Sacred Radiance: To the Shrine of a Mountain God

Above the town of old Manali there is a mount. If you follow the path that goes up from behind Manali’s temple you will eventually come to a shrine of a mountain god. His name is “Dani Depta”. From his shrine he surveys the whole of Manali and the northern end of the Kullu Valley in the Himalayas. The Beas river thunders past far below. Try Googling him. Chances are you’ll find nothing. Isn’t it wonderful? Of course now that ’someone’ has brought it to the attention of the www who knows how long this mystery will last…? I revel in the mystery that reminds that I know absolutely nothing…
